With many automakers structuring their advertising towards convertibles that have strong summer appeal, we are now left to wonder whether Kia will be getting on board with this trend. Now that the automaker is expanding its new Kia lineup into new segments and markets, does this mean that a Kia convertible is potentially in the works? The appearance of a Kia Pro_cee'd GT convertible sketch on the fan site by the name of KiaWorld.net, just might be giving away the answer.
Kia has definitely been stepping up its game in terms of stylish model offerings, especially with the addition of the Quoris luxury sedan. Circulating rumors indicate another sports car might be in the future for Kia as well.
For those of you in the greater Denver, CO area who aren't familiar, the Pro_cee'd GT is the performance version of the Cee'd hatchback. The convertible variant depicted in the sketch is a front-wheel drive hatchback that has been transformed. There aren't many models out there like this. In fact the only one we can think of is the Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet, which isn't sold in the United States.
If the Pro_cee'd GT convertible is anything like the Golf model, it might run into the same problem of losing the hardtop which is replaced with a less rigid structure, therefore losing some of its convertible appeal. This is of course assuming that Kia's first convertible is anything like the drawing suggests.
As of now there is no confirmation from Kia that a convertible is in the works, but we will of course keep you updated right here on our blog as more details are uncovered. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit our Arapahoe Kia showroom to take any of our current new or used Kia models for a spin.
