As we have recently mentioned here on our blog, Kia has been toying with the idea of expanding its GT offerings to possibly add a pro_cee'd GT convertible to the mix. Now the automaker is looking to take this idea even further, and we are excited to bring you all of the details.
Kia recently launched the sporty, three-door pro_cee'd GT in Britain. It features a 1.6-liter turbo engine, and is definitely not lacking when it comes to style and innovation. These factors are a good indication that it will be an instant hit. If this is the case, than Kia wants to move forward with the development of more GT options.
An inside source that spoke with AutoEvolution explains, "If everything goes well and it's received warmly then we could spread the GT badge, and maybe see a GT version of the Rio as well."1
Here at Arapahoe Kia, we would certainly love to see a GT version of the Kia Rio. However, if the automaker plans to wait until the 5-door cee'd GT is released next year to see how it performs, by then the Rio will have been on the market for about three years. Therefore, auto enthusiasts are hoping to see some additions to the GT line made sooner rather than later.
Although these flashy models have yet to be introduced to U.S. markets, we have a feeling this might change in the future. Which new Kia model would you like to see introduced with a GT version? We'd love for you to head over to our Greenwood Village, CO dealership to let us know what your thoughts are. You never know, these high performance models could one day be coming our way!
