A total of five Kia models won the highest honors in the safety field. Among them, the 2012 Kia Optima along with the Optima Hybrid, and the Kia Forte, Soul, and Sportage garnered recognition from the IIHS as a 'Top Safety Pick.' In addition to IIHS honors, both variants of the Optima, and the 2012 Sportage received Five-Start Crash Safety Ratings from the NHTSA.
Six vehicles were tapped as some of the most efficient cars on the market today, as the Kia Forte led the charge in earning US EPA SmartWay Certification. Along with the Forte, the Optima, 2012 Optima Hybrid, Sportage, Soul, and Kia Rio nailed down top marks for efficient performance as well.
Demonstrating brand value, three Kia models were named by Consumer Digest as a "Best Buy," a combination of many key performance indicators drivers look for when purchasing a new car. Once again, the Kia Optima was honored, while the 2012 Kia Soul hatchback and Sportage SUV also earned praise from the publication.
