Recently, Kia put some of its top master technicians around the country to the test, with the highest scorers getting a chance to compete in the Kia Skill World Cup.
The biannual event quizzes technicians on nearly every service and repair scenario they could encounter, evaluating them on their ability to solve the issue while also sticking to the Kia five-step process as well. For the winners to reach the Kia Skill World Cup, being held in Seoul, South Korea on June 11th through the 15th, the technicians first had to make it to the National Skill Cup, scoring in the top four in their region after taking a 50 question exam that tested their knowledge. The 16 winners from the eastern, southern, central, and western regions headed out to Kia North America headquarters in California to partake in some hands on testing, with the top qualifier from each region moving on to the World Cup.
The hands on testing included diagnosing issues presented to them on new Kia vehicles, while seeing if the technicians could perform a high quality job, and fix the issue correctly in an allotted timeframe. Service techs were also judged on their procedures post-repair, as well as customer service in each scenario as well.
Those who go on to the Kia Skill World Cup will not only be tested to determine the best, but will also be used as a barometer to determine the standard of high-quality Kia auto service across the world, including right here at Arapahoe Kia, where we think it's great that Kia uses master technicians at dealerships to help them grow as a brand.
