2024 Kia Telluride Overview

The Telluride and Pilot are two of the most popular and critically acclaimed options among midsize SUVs. The Pilot had widely been considered the standard for the segment until the Telluride came along for the 2020 model year and changed the game. Honda has been in catchup model ever since, and the 2023 Honda Pilot is an attempt to close the gap. It has been completely redesigned with more features than ever before and even made a bit bigger in order to provide more passenger and cargo space. The 2024 Kia Telluride is the newest version from Kia. It continues the first Telluride generation and is now available at Arapahoe Kia, and with that in mind, let’s compare the 2024 Kia Telluride vs 2023 Honda Pilot and see how these two models with widespread appeal measure up.

Seating options are similar when comparing the 2024 Kia Telluride vs 2023 Honda Pilot as both vehicles have three rows and are offered in seven- and eight-passenger configurations. The big difference for the Pilot from the previous generation is that front legroom has been increased to 41 inches, second-row legroom has been increased to more than 40 inches and the third row has been expanded a bit as well. Honda has also increased the dedicated cargo area by about 2 cubic feet. Kia still offers more front legroom by a tad, and the second-row legroom, which is where it really shines, is still greater by almost 2 inches. The dedicated cargo area in the Kia is greater by a significant amount at 21 cubic feet, and while the Pilot third-row is roomier by an inch, we’re not sure it’s enough to offset these other differences.

Class III trailering equipment is available in both cases. FWD Pilots can tow up to 3,500 pounds. AWD Pilots can tow up to 5,000 pounds. All Telluride models can tow at least 5,000 pounds. You also have the option of the X-Pro, which can tow 5,500 pounds and is also notable in that it has off-road suspension tuning.

The touch screen is among the oddest decisions Honda made in its redesign. Base equipment includes a 7-inch screen, and a 9-inch screen is optional. All Telluride models come with a 12.3-inch screen. The base suite of driver-assistance technologies is also more robust in the Kia model. For example, Honda requires you to move up a trim level beyond the base to get the blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning whereas Kia includes those features in the standard package.
